   Photo is identified as Dr. Franz. Ernest Franz, son of Daniel & Elisabeth (Schaad) Franz was born in Switzerland in 1865. He came to America with his parents to New Martensville, West Virginia in September of 1879, and to Wisconsin in 1881 or 1882. He moved to Monmouth in Adams County in March of 1882 and then in April of 1883 he moved to Berne and practiced medicine. He married Leah Neuenschwander on March 9, 1890.

   Dr. Ernest Franz (1865 - 1941) son of Daniel & Elisabeth (Schaad) Franz. He married Leah Neuenschwander and they had nine children. He was one of the early doctors in Berne, starting in the horse and buggy days and practiced for 48 years. His office was in half of his home on Main Street, where Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home is located. The house was moved to 304 South Harrison Street and is still standing.
