1939 Exhibition Photo - This is another photo that Jacob Gerber entered in the 1939 Indiana Assoc. of Photographers convention. This photo appears have been colorized. The cheeks of unidentified woman are incredibly pink! She is shown posing with her back half turned from the photographer and is looking back at him over her left shoulder. Her hair is parted in the middle, collar length and loosely curled. She is wearing a pink dress with a ruffled, self collar that appears to have a bow at the throat. The dress has an overlay of brown lace and fabric covered buttons that appear to extend from the neckline down the shoulder and further down the arm. The photo is mounted on a dark, cream colored border and then mounted onto a thick, cream colored poster board. The photographer's logo is located in the lower right hand corner, apparently handwritten in black ink. The left hand corner holds a dark blue and gold stamp with "ACCEPTED FOR EXHIBITION" on it. It also has a circle in gold with "INDIANA ASSOCIATION OF PHOTOGRAPHERS". I think the circle is meant to represent the lens of a camera. Under the circle on a gold banner is, "1939 CONVENTION", and Indianapolis. Handwritten on the back of the photo mat is, "The Berne Studio 505 E. Franklin St. Berne Ind. Jacob Gerber". |
