Accordion Shop Float - 1952 |
Date |
1952 |
Description |
Accordion Shop Float - 1952 - This picture was taken during the Berne Centennial in 1952. Although it is not identified, I know from seeing other pictures of them that the man standing on the ground next to the float is Chris (Criegel) Zuercher. The man standing on the float on the left side is Walter, Chris's son, the woman is Irene, Chris's daughter and the man on the right may be Sylvan, also Chris's son. The float has the store's name all across the side. Then there are various "shields" at the front depicting, I assume, the various cantons. Above them is the word "Switzerland". The two men on the float are holding alphorns and Irene is holding an accordion. Behind them is a miniaturized version of a Swiss chalet on top of a mountain. There are three girls standing to the side of this chalet and one little boy seated next to them. Everyone is wearing traditional Swiss clothing. |
