William Hirschy in WW I |
Description |
William Hirschy in WW I - This is a photo of William Hirschy wearing his World War I uniform. It's the typical wool uniform with the stand up collar and patch pockets. He has the buttoned straps on his shoulders but the only insignia I can see is a round, brass button on his collar that says, "US". His hair is cut very short on the sides, almost shaved, then parted on the side and the top combed over. The photo has been made into a postcard that was never sent. Someone has written in pencil on the back "1918 or 19". Someone else has written "William Hirschy" in blue ink on the back at the bottom. The photographer's logo and address are printed in black on the back of the card. There are evidently two locations for this photography studio, one in Baltimore, Maryland and the other in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Philadelphia has been underlined with pencil, so I'm assuming this means that that's where the photo was taken. |
