Description |
Eight Lehman Brothers - This picture is of the 8 sons of Burkhart and Lydia (Sprunger) Lehman. The picture has been made into a postcard. The brothers are lined up according to age, oldest on the left and youngest on the right. They are (left to right) Leo, Herman, Elmer, Albert, Reuben, Harley, Leslie, and Harry. The picture was probably taken in the 'teens of the early 1900's because of the style of the boys suits. Harry, the youngest, was born in 1911 and he looks about 4 or 5 in this picture. The 5 boys are wearing knickers with dark stockings and high topped shoes. The two oldest boys are wearing double-breasted suit jackets, the two younger are wearing jackets with fabric belts, and the baby is wearing a sailor suit. The three men are wearing suits, the oldest appears to have on a vest, with white shirts and ties. They are standing in front of a clapboard summer kitchen with open front porch on the family farm north of Berne. There appears to be two screen doors that can be seen to the left of the picture. There is a young tree standing just behind the boys. |
