Brothers of the Brush 2002 - This photo was taken in the patio of the Mennonite church. The men are posing in front of and on the ramps that lead up the 2nd story. The majority of the men are seated or standing on the floor while others are standing on the ramps. On the back of the photo has been pasted a piece of paper that has the typewritten identification of all the men. I am assuming that the "Brothers of the Brush" is an organization for men who were growing their beards in time for the Sesquicentennial. This is something that was done during the Centennial in 1952 as well. Most of the men are wearing short sleeved shirts and ties, and I see a lot of wrist watches. Four men are wearing the traditional Swiss jacket. This is also a good picture of the "patio" in the First Mennonite Church of Berne. You can see the ramps that lead to and from the patio and the main floor of the building. You can see a portion of the large sky light at the top of the picture and the tiles in the ceiling and the recessed, rectangular shaped lighting.
