Young Woman in Frilly Blouse |
Description |
Young Woman in Frilly Blouse - This is an unidentified studio portrait of a young woman, but we believe her to be the same woman as in #2008.012.92, in possibly the 1890's or early 1900's. She is standing with her hair in a pompadour style but pulled a little to the side at the same time. She has a large bow on top of her head. She is wearing a white blouse with a wide lace ruffle. Her sleeves are long, but instead of the puffed sleeve at the shoulder, which was common at this time, her sleeve is narrow at the shoulder and begins to widen at the elbow until it achieves a wide puff at the wrist, then is cuffed. The bodice is loose fitting but is tucked into a tightly cinched waisted skirt with a belt. The skirt is A-line with seams that end about 8 inches from the hem, allowing a large pleat. The photographer's drop appears to be drapes over a multi-colored canvas back. The photographer's logo is located in the lower right-hand corner of the frame. It says: McLain - Bluffton |
