The sign above the door of Sprunger and Lehman is advertising Selz Boots and Shoes stating they were made in Chicago. Another sign above the awning has a pair of feet with Selz Shoes above them and below is "Make your feet glad". This is how the building appeared before the Champion Block fire. The brick building has a tin awning with a wooden gingerbread edge. The first upper window on the left has "Dr. H. F. Emick Veterinarian" and the fifth window has "Dr. Reusser Office". The lower windows on the left have boxes probably shoes according to the signs hanging above them in the windows. The other windows have a doll house in one and manicanes in the other. There were two entrances to the building, one at street level and the other elevated. There are people standing on the sidewalk and the steps in front of the store. They are left to right: Sprunger, Albert N.; Rohrer, Christian, tailor; Sprunger, Levi A.; Sprunger, Jeff; Luginbill, Noah; Baumgartner, Sam L.; Liechty, Judith; Flueckiger, Bertha Sprunger (Mrs. Ben); and Norr, Philippine Sprunger (Mrs. William). The street is bricked. A. N. Sprunger is wearing pants with a double breasted coat and dark shirt. ----- Rohrer is wearing dark clothing and has a beard. L. A. Sprunger is wearing a three piece suit with a bow tie and a watch fob. Jeff Sprunger is alos wearing a three piece suit with a long tie and watch fob. He also has a mustache. Noah Luginbill is waring a three piece suit with a bow tie. Sam Baumgartner is also wearing a three piece suit. His pants are lighter color than his coat. Judith Liechty is wearing a long dark colored dress or skirt and blouse. The long sleeved bodice has a standup collar with a pin at the neckline. A pair of scissors is attached at the belt at her waist. Bertha Sprunger is also wearing a long dark colored dress or skirt and blouse. The long sleeved bodice also has a standup collar and a pair of scissors are hanging from her waist. Philipine Norr is wearing a long skirt with a ruffle on the bottom. Her long sleeved printed blouse has a dark colored round yoke with a standup collar. She also has scissors hanging at her waist. All three ladies have their hair pulled up in a bun. |
