  1. 1920 era tornado - circa 1920

1920 era Tornado - This photo shows a wooden T-shaped house, with a lot of debris in the yard in front of it. The main part of the house is 2 story with a 1 story addition onto the back, which is probably the kitchen. A dinner bell can be seen attached to the roofline of this addition. It looks like the house has lost its chimneys and you can see a screen door leaning against one end of the house, looking like it has been torn off but is still...

  2. 1923 era Car

1923 era Car - This photo of a car must have been taken in the 1920s. Somebody was proud of their new car. I did some research and it looks very much like a 1923 Maxwell Club Sedan. That may not be what it is, but I would say it's from that same time period. It has the same body shape, same windows, including the upper windshield which has hinges so it can be raised, as it is in this photo. It also has the same tires, running board and fende...

All but one girl in the front are wearing dark pants with a white stripe down the outside of the leg. The hats are also military style ...

  11. Armistice Day Parade

Armistice Day Parade - This photo shows another parade in Berne, and this one is also dated between 1912 -1917 because of Ferdinand Ryf's shoe store sign. We know this was the time frame when he owned this shop. However, this parade shows much more patriotic bunting than seen in 2022.02.23 & 24. Otherwise, the street and the buildings look the same, including the water pipe over the heads of the spectators in the middle bottom of the photo. T...

  12. Armistice Day Parade

Armistice Day Parade - This photo was taken the same day as 2022.02.25. It was written on the back of that photo that this was an Armistice Day parade. The first Armistice Day was on 11 Nov 1918. I doubt that this parade is taking place in November because the people aren't wearing coats, so unless it was an unusually warm November day, I believe the information on the other photograph may be incorrect. It is, however, obviously a patriotic c...

  14. Baby Photo

Baby Photo - This photo shows a bare footed baby sitting in a wooden rocker on, what appears to be, a porch. The photo was definitely taken outside, you can see the trees and grass in the background. The baby is wearing an elbow length, white baby dress trimmed with lace at the hem. The picture has been cut into an oval shape and has been previously pasted into a photo album, because there is still black album paper stuck to the back of it.

  16. Baby Photo - circa 1930s

Baby Photo - This photo of a baby sitting on a "corner" chair was taken at the Berne Studio, according to the notation on the back of the post card. The card has been glued into a photo album because there are still remnants of black album paper stuck to the back of it. The baby is wearing a long sleeved, white baby gown, but the gown is not full length, which indicates the baby is old enough to crawl. The baby is also wearing handknit booties...
